Art & Design

We believe that art stimulates creativity, imagination and inventiveness. Art gives our pupils the knowledge, skills and concepts necessary for them to express responses to ideas and experiences. As they progress, Everton Heath pupils will be able to think critically and develop a more rigorous understanding of art and design, understanding how art and design both reflect and shape our history, and contribute to the culture, creativity and wealth of our nation.

At Everton Heath, we teach Art through a skills-based curriculum. The skills are developed and built upon each year so that progression can be seen clearly across the school. We value art as a subject, to inspire and develop our children’s creative thinking and to develop their cultural, spiritual and moral understanding. We teach our children to be reflective and respectful of others. We take inspiration specific from artists, earning more about them and their style, which we then apply to our own work.

We plan and teach our art lessons based on research, skills and creation. We include a range of media and give time for the children to be reflective in their sketchbooks.
